Year 6 Number Zumba

Yr 6  17.11.17    This week’s target:  I can rapidly recall all SQUARE NUMBERS up to 12 x 12.

 

Bronze: Children to learn SQUARE NUMBERS up to 6 x 6 (in a random order).

Silver: Children to learn SQUARE NUMBERS up to 12 x 12. (in a random order)

Gold: Children to learn SQUARE NUMBERS up to 12 x 12 & use these to calculate related facts of x10/100/1,000 (e.g. 6 x 6 = 36, so 6 x 600 = 3,600)

Platinum: Children to use their knowledge of SQUARE NUMBERS to explain statements such as: Ruby says, “I notice that the difference between successive square numbers is odd,” Can you explain (with examples) if this is true/false and if it occurs always/sometimes/never?

To help your child practise, you could:

  • Draw out pictorial representations of each. (eg.  = 2 x 2 = 4)
  • Writing down all of them in order forwards, backwards & when you get quick at those see if someone can test you in a random order?
